Keep on doing a great work!! One feature request: When scrolling, keep the position on the column, even if the row you are now on is shorter then the previous. That creates a lot better experience. Thank you!

I saw the IOS version of this and thought that the Mac version will be the same and have (S)FTP support bought after buying this application i found that (S)FTP was not supported. I am very disappointed. The app’s user interface looks really nice but with the lack of (S)FTP support it is useless to me. I hope that this will be implemented soon.
All I wanted was a simple nedit or gedit that could resize, bracket match {}, and do Mac Native cut and paste with shortcuts. I’ve burnt enough time with XQuartz and Macports not accepting resize requests (geometry) that I went looking for something else, even if it cost me a few bucks. I don’t want a full IDE like Eclipse as I’m doing simple makefile builds and I’m not working in Objective-C so xCode is out. TextWrangler was free but didn’t do bracket matching so I paid $9 for Textastic. The screen captures show something that looks like bracket matching support. Anyway, it doesn’t have that feature so it is of no value to me.
This app is absolutely fantastic, i also baught the iPad version for iCloud sync and it works smoothly, i also gifted both apps to a classmate and he was blown by them…so keep up the good work I would give the fifth star for more code completion for SQL and Swift
I’ve used this editor every day for quite some time, along with Nano (that’s right; man nano) in Terminal for really quick edits. Textastic is fast, has reasonable organizational abilities once you get used to “rooting” commonly used sub-folders, supports all standard keyboard navigation, allows overriding of shortcuts through System Preferences→Keyboard→Shortcuts, has reasonable customization capability (via TextMate-style bundles), integrates well with Dash and other external snippet tools (with Emmett built-in for HTML), is very resource friendly, integrates perfectly with OS X split-screen, and iCloud between it and the iPad version is invaluable. You can even open files directly in it from the terminal using "open -a textastic” (I alias it). The things it does, it does well. To counter the other reviewers, it’s my belief that SFTP has no place in an editor as most any SFTP tool will do change tracking/automatic uploads and whatnot, will do it better, and that if you’re “editing live” you’re doing it wrong and should be using a change tracking system like Git, Mercurial, or Subversion. Misunderstanding HTML jump-to-tag to mean general bracket matching isn’t the fault of the author, to cover another review’s complaint.
made some additions to the code editor, it will be a super simplicity
Simple, fast, elegant. However, It is not the best and probably it is not going to be my first editor of choice for managing large projects. Im using Textastic as a replacement for OSXs horrible TextEdit.
this looks like a good start. keep up the good work!
Its a clean & simple software but it would be more useful if he had the management of ftp connections as in the version for ipad
A good editor but it misses some basic things like spellcheck. Also a programmable button or a keyboard shortcut to easy implement code compilation would be nice
Version 1.1 While I would assume a big number of developers appreciates tabbed windows… I still prefer a side-by-side open windows for quick code comparisons. Why cant we have an option to either have tabs, or not…now I wish I didnt upgrade. Yes I know I can drag a file out to a new window, but I wish there was an option so I could open files in new window each. I still would like to see a different method of highlighting what line of code youre currently on, as well as a path option… so I know WHICH FILE IM WORKING oh just so when I happen to have two of the same name. Version 1.0 - Very fast, very right to the point… just few items missing for me. Love the speed, love the memory footprint. It is blazing fast opening large files. Not much to complain about. I would love to see a better highlighting option for current line (maybe even allow us mortals to select the color of the hightlight), as well as add a way to path to the bottom of each open file (just like few others I know I edit same name files almost all the time). I usually hide the status bar, because I know the extension of the file Im working with usually clues me to what syntax Im using… it would be nice just to have a simple path :) Please keep up the good work and dont nickle and dime us like Smultron :P
Can we have more feature like side by side view , multiline select and edit , open the folder ? TextWrangler and Textmate 2 are still better for me. iCloud feature is really good but who will code using iCloud ? iCloud cant save the whole project folder.
Im a fan of the iPad and iPhone apps, but the desktop app seems really rushed and half done. Feature-wise this is nothing like what Id expect on the desktop, TextMate, Sublime, etc.
I tried searching for something like TalA in a text file containing indices and enzymes. It found matches and placed an overlay over things like bamC and actually a blank space that was next one yihI
I web-developer and use "Coda" in my work. I finding simple application for code editing with next features: - selecting syntax style (php, js ...); - selecting line endings (rn, r, n); - selecting text encoding; - uppercase and lowercase; - show tab characters, soft tabs and tab width. This simple application is better then the other editors. This application like Notepad++ for Windows. Its all what i need, but i need else searching by files like in Notepad++ Thanks.
I really like this app but I would like to see a couple things, one of which I saw someone else mention. It would be nice to see: 1.) WYSIWYG capability... a preview / design view 2.) An option to have the code auto-tab. I know it sounds lazy but I really like not having to hit tab to get my spacing matching. Other than that, this is a really nice, lightweight and useful app.
Ive had Textastic on my iPad for awhile now, and just saw it on the App Store, and its great! But its missing some functionality that would be amazing to have on this version such as FTP/SSH file browsing and creating your own color schemes for code coloring. Otherwise its a great editor for small projects and script editing.
moving from one platform to the other is not straightforward or easy. Going back to Coda.
I love how you can sync between the iPad and the Mac via iCloud now. That is great. But it would be nice if you could link to and eddit from the FTP of a site. I would use it more then.
This app has a long way to go before its useful.
